Fleetwood Mac fans are convinced the band are set for a reunion tour after a huge clue was spotted on social media, despite surviving band members previously suggesting it would never happen
Optimism is in the air for Fleetwood Mac fans after a potential hint at the possibility of a reunion tour.
Despite not touring since 2019 and previous statements indicating no future tours following the loss of keyboardist and songwriter Christine McVie, the band’s fans have picked up on a new and intriguing detail suggesting the tide may be turning.
Once adamant that Fleetwood Mac would not reunite after McVies passing in 2022, surviving band members could be back on the road. Some already are, like Stevie Nicks who held solo gigs in the UK earlier this year, but later canceled the tour over a medical emergency. The creation of a fresh official Instagram account for Fleetwood Mac has ignited anticipation among fans.
A TikTok post with screenshots unveiling the new official Fleetwood Mac Instagram and TikTok profiles recently appeared, both followed by Nicks and fellow bandmate Lindsey Buckingham. One fan wrote in response: “Waitttt I thought Stevie said Fleetwood Mac wouldn’t get back together since Christine died?”
Another hoped: “Bands always say they won’t get back together and then do.” A third claimed it could still happen, adding: “I guess she meant in a technical way. It will never be the same though.”
However, some expressed scepticism about the band’s ability to deliver a good enough performance. One said: “Unless it’s a couple of reunion gigs in memory of Christine, I can’t see it happening. John is winding down, we don’t know what state Lindsey’s voice is in either. Not to mention him and Stevie can’t work together.”
An optimistic fan countered with: “No one knows the current state of Lindsey and Stevie’s relationship. Stevie always speaks of him highly if you look at her concert videos.”
Band members Buckingham and Nicks had been in a relationship before the recording of hit album Rumours but the relationship was put on ice soon after it was released in 1977. The band has since toured intermittently in the decades to follow, with the most recent string of shows culminating in 2019.
The ‘An Evening with Fleetwood Mac’ tour is likely the last time they take to the stage, though fans are hopeful they could get one more chance to see the band behind The Chain.
One person took to Twitter/X and wrote: “The Fleetwood Mac return rumours are definitely what I needed to hear this morning.” Another added: “Did someone say a Fleetwood Mac reunion?”
