Harvey Weinstein is battling a serious illness amid the fallen Hollywood mogul being recently indicted on new charges.
Sources revealed to NBC News that Harvey had chronic myeloid leukemia. Harveys diagnosis comes after his alleged sexual misconduct sparked the explosive #MeToo movement. Industry insiders explained to NBC News that the disgraced film producer was getting treatment in prison at Rikers Island in New York. According to the National Cancer Institute, type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes a large number of abnormal blood cells.
Harveys legal healthcare rep Craig Rothfeld disclosed in a statement that: Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein’s privacy, we will offer no further comment.”

The alleged sexual predators medical revelation follows more health issues that hes had. In September, Harvey got heart surgery to help remove fluid from his lungs and heart, according to NBC News. Before that, he was hospitalized in July as he tested positive for Covid-19 and double pneumonia.
Harveys health issues occurred during his legal battle with Manhattan prosecutors who were trying to intertwine his 2020 sexual crimes with a new criminal indictment. Prosecutors want to combine new charges with past ones against Harvey so theyll be tried in court together, per NBC News.
This year his conviction in New York was overturned amid him serving a 23-year sentence. In the New York Court of Appeals, it was found that the judge in the controversial trial saddled Harvey with improper rulings. This came with a decision to allow women to testify about allegations that werent included in the case.
However, that didnt mean that Harvey was a free man. He had already been convicted of rape in Los Angeles, California, in 2022, which resulted in him being sentenced to 16 years in prison. Of course, Harveys legal team is looking to appeal that conviction.
A Manhattan judge scheduled the start date for the rape retrial in early July. Seemingly wanting to get the show on the road, Harvey was willing to have an earlier date depending on how swiftly prosecutors could move through the grand jury. His attorneys actually told Judge Farber that they would prefer an earlier start date.
“[Harvey] is anxious to go to trial and prove his innocence,” one of his attorneys told AP News after the hearing, per The Sun. While in the Manhattan courtroom, Harvey seemed to be stonefaced as he was ushered into the room in a wheelchair, awaiting the judge to schedule a retrial date.
