Emma spent time listening to the stories of girls who had returned to school after escaping their marriages. Among them was Stella Kalilombe, who was forced to marry at 17 when she became pregnant. Her son is now four. “Seeing these young girls, some of the few in Africa who are struggling with poverty and early marriage, made me realise how important this work is and how important my presence is,” she said.
