Donald Trump’s wife Melania was put on the spot and asked why she is choosing now to support her husband after largely avoiding his campaign trail.
During a guest appearance on Fox & Friends, the former first lady joined the show to promote her new book, Melania, and responded to questions about her latest visit with Donald Trump at the Madison Square Garden rally in New York City. During the show, Melania was asked by co-host Lawrence Jones: “You took the stage on Sunday. You surprised the former president. You surprised the entire audience. Why now are we seeing you more on the campaign trail in the final stretch?”
While many viewers hoped Melania would finally share the reasoning behind her absence, she instead expertly avoided the question. She replied: “It was an incredible place. I love New York City, and I think that people to hear from me at that on that day. The arena, Madison Square Garden, the support that we have, and I want to support my husband as well. So I was there for him and everybody else.

Later in the conversation, the former model went on to fiercely defend Trump after claims that he was fascist. During the interview, Melania said: “Its terrible. Hes not Hitler and all of his supporters, theyre standing behind him because they want [to] see [the] country successful. Her comment also comes after the Democratic National Committee projected the words “Trump praised Hitler” onto the arena’s exterior.
During her actual apperance at the event, Melania showcased her support for Trump as she delivered her first public speech this election cycle. When Melania took the stage, she spoke about her love for NYC, which she described as “the worlds undisputed capital of industry, where titans of finance, fashion, and entertainment convene,” but went on to add: “Sadly, today, a declining quality of life coupled with economic instability makes it difficult for business to thrive.
The 54-year-old went on to share a positive message for the future as she stated: “New York City and America needs their magic back. Let us start together with a shared vision that builds on American greatness. Let’s seize this moment and create a country for tomorrow, the future that we deserve.
Melania’s appearance came during the final leg of the election cycle after she was rarely seen by her husband’s side in recent months. Before the presidential nominee’s rally at MSG, the only other time Melania has showcased her support for Trump was during the Republican National Convention.
