Halsey recounted on Call Her Daddy a “strange situation” they found themselves in while out with a music executive.

The singer, who uses she/they pronouns, appeared on the hit podcast this week. Besides dishing about their engagement to actor Avan Jogia and how he changed their views on marriage, Halsey told podcast host Alex Cooper about a sketchy interaction she had.

“I had a really strange situation a couple years ago,” they said, “I guess it was quite a long time ago, but I was out and I was with this executive, this really powerful executive who works in music in some capacity.

The unnamed executive asked Halsey to take a photo with him for his niece. Halsey snapped a selfie before handing their phone to him, saying “Text it to yourself. I have to pee.”

When the Without You singer came back from the bathroom, the executive handed them back their phone. During the video interview, Halsey mimicked how he did so, with the phone screen down.

“I saw he was going through my nudes on my phone,” they recalled, “I was just frozen. I was like, Did I just imagine that? Was that an accident? Did the phone scroll up? What the heck just happened?’

Halsey immediately worried about if he sent the photos to himself and deleted the messages. They admitted: “I don’t even know where these are now.”

“Im in this situation where I have so much power, she explained, I have a bodyguard and I have, you know, all the leverage in the world and Im in this exclusive space in this VIP, Ive reached the ranks of like, Oh, I am protected or whatever else it may be. And then this invasive thing just happens on a whim.”

The star shared how the moment affected them. “In that moment, I was like, ‘Youre nothing. Youre nothing. Youll always be nothing. Youre still just that f—— girl whos getting taken advantage of,’ or like men are talking about you behind your back, or youre some sort of like, collateral,'” they said.

“It was so demoralizing,” Halsey added, “So many worse things have happened to me than that, but that one stuck out for some reason because it was so nonchalant.”
