Rory McIlroy is reportedly on the verge of making his acting debut, with rumors circulating that he may land a role in the much-anticipated sequel to the cult classic *Happy Gilmore*. The original film, starring Adam Sandler, tells the story of Happy, a failed ice hockey player who discovers his incredible golf talent and enters the sport to save his grandmother’s house from being sold.

As excitement builds for *Happy Gilmore 2*, set to debut on Netflix, fans are buzzing about Sandler’s return to the iconic role. The sequel was confirmed earlier this month when Netflix tweeted about its production. Sandler even teased fans with an Instagram photo featuring his dog next to a script for the film, joking about the progress being made.
Rory McIIlroy could join Travis Kelce by having a cameo in the film

At the BMW PGA Championship last week, McIlroy’s manager, Sean O’Flaherty, reportedly mentioned that McIlroy had to skip a scheduled event due to his filming commitments for the sequel. “He can’t because it clashes with the Happy Gilmore shooting,” O’Flaherty was quoted as saying. This isn’t McIlroy’s first connection to the *Happy Gilmore* legacy; during his Tour Championship and FedEx Cup victory in 2021, he celebrated the film’s iconic character, marking the 25th anniversary of Gilmore’s fictional triumph with a special winner’s locker at East Lake.

While McIlroy’s involvement is not officially confirmed, the prospect of seeing him alongside Sandler has fans buzzing with anticipation. Sandler has hinted at numerous guest appearances in the film, mentioning that NFL star Travis Kelce will also make an appearance. As the filming progresses, many are eager to see how the worlds of golf and comedy will collide once again.
