Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been under the hot seat over sharing an image of their daughter.
The Duchess of Sussex celebrated International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8 and created a post about it on Instagram. She posted a carousel of pictures, two with her mother, one of Harry and their daughter Lilibet, and one of him holding Meghan. The caption read: “Happy International Womens Day! Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day.”
Despite the post meaning to be positive, Meghan and Harry were questioned over their child’s safety since the picture of Harry and his daughter was taken on a boat.
One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Prince Harry & Meghan Markle are so good at showing the world how much they suck at being parents What f—–g moron doesnt put their child in a safety vest while boating This is a LEGAL requirement for all when boating.” Another person wrote: “I just said on another TL…we were a sailing family for years. My daughter swam before she could walk almost, yet she never set foot on my dad’s sailboat without a life jacket.” A third person posted: “Not just any life jacket either. Must be Coast Guard approved for children under six.”
Others came at Meghan and Harry’s defense.
One person wrote: “They probably never left the dock.” Another person wrote: “After looking at the photo closely, I dont think theyre on a boat, I think its a sun lounger (sorry I dont know what you call it in USA). If you look at the right hand side, it appears that there is a pathway with a frame on it. I still cant stand him!”
It is not known where the picture was taken but in California, every child under 13 years of age on a “moving recreational vessel of any length must wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket in serviceable condition and of a type and size appropriate for the conditions and the activity,” according to the Division of Boating and Waterways.
