The View fans couldn’t handle Robin Williams being mention on the talk show.
On Wednesday’s episode of The View, Billy Crystal was on as a guest to discuss his new Apple TV+ show Before. In response to Sarah Haines’ question at one point in the conversation, he opened up about the night of the Kennedy Centers Honors in December 2023 where he was an honoree. He mentioned how he was “incredibly honored” and made a joke how it was “thrilling” to be with a president who wasn’t indicted “94 times.” He continued, mentioning the people who were included in his presentation such as Robert DeNiro, Marc Shaiman and Whoopi Goldberg. He said when Whoopi walked out on stage, “that just seal the deal for me.”
Sarah noted that Whoopi’s speech was a “nod” to their “third musketeer” and the late comedian. They played a portion of her speech and in the clip, the actress said how their “brother” Robin should have been standing here with her as the camera panned to Billy’s emotional face. She also called the When Harry Met Sally star her “family.”

Crystal and Goldberg had a moment after the clip when they looked at each other with fondness and emotion. Billy said that “they’ve been through so much together” and how Robin was on his mind during that time because he was in Washington DC. He elaborated that the three of them have so many memories there, specifically the first time they went to Comic Relief in 1986.
Comic Relief was a series of comedy specials Whoopi, Billy and Robin hosted where they raised millions of dollars for organizations helping the unhoused and raising awareness about poverty. One of those organization, A House of Ruth, reached out and shared “long-lost” photos of the three of them at one of their events in 1986.
Fans got emotional as they watch the encounter and saw the reminder of the loss of Robin. The Hook actor died by suicide in August 2014 at the age of 63. One fan on X formerly Twitter wrote: “Robin Wiliams… how dearly missed is his genius… There was no one like him. One of a kind” A second fan wrote: “Robin Williams is still missed to this day. I still miss him” Another said: “Oh look. The band is back together. Rip Robin Williams.”
